SAN LUIS PASS WADE FISHING BAN

Buddy of mine told me it was now illegal to wade fish at San Luis Pass. Turns out it’s a half truth. The Brazoria County Comissioners Court has filed an order with multiple County and state agencies to create a penality for wade fishing, swimming and bathing in the designated areas of the Brazoria side on the attached map. So far it’s still America on the Galveston side.

I’ve fished the designated area before. I know at times the current in that area is extremely swift. IMO it’s not a good idea to wade out very far from that shoreline. I’ll never forget the trip when my buddy acted like he was getting swept away in the current. Anyways, here’s the notification.

SAN JACINTO RIVER WASTE PITS ARE LEAKING INTO GALVESTON BAY

If you’ve fished the waters of Galveston Bay Texas for some time, your most likely aware of the fish contamination warnings and controversy associated with Dioxins and PCB’s.

For years anglers have been told to limit intake of speckled trout, catfish, crabs and various other species in areas of the Bay system. The contamination has often been blamed on chemical dumping in the Houston Ship Channel in the 50’s & 60’s. Then subsiquent channel dredging and the reintroduction of contaminants into the water column that had once settled on the bottom.

While some of that seems logical. We’ve recently  found a bombshell of information concerning The San Jacinto River Waste Pits. A now Superfund dump site partially submerged on the banks of the San Jacinto River.  Containment has failed. It has been and is leaking.

“We have a clear and present danger of Dioxin going into the San Jacinto River and Galveston Bay,” said Terrence O’Rourke of the Harris County Attorney’s Office. “The rocks are falling off, it’s just that simple. They are rocks on top of a tarp and the rocks are gone.”

In December 2015 inspectors found a gap more than 20-feet wide. Last week, EPA inspectors packnowledged at least five additional locations at the site where protective containment was missing.

Jackie Young of the San Jacinto River Coalition says more than 80 percent of the dump still hasn’t been inspected for holes or damage.

Who the hell thought it was a great idea to store Dioxin, a non degrading and one of the most toxic substances known to man, on the banks of a river?

Here’s who. Two Fortune 500 companies of course. International Paper and Waste Management. Both have declined to tell the media their sides of the story.

Aparently these two companies have hired there own researchers and are trying persuade the EPA to leave this shit right there on the banks of the SJR.

Here is a video released by Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan concerning the hazardous nature and future of the SJR Waste Pits.

Here is a full presentation and press conference concerning the pits. More  info. As it comes.

Via: KPRC Click2Houston

I must say this is an extensive amount of information as to what toxins were discovered in the fish? Must be some bad stuff for an all out ban request.

From the article:

A fish advisory is in effect for Lake Livingston and parts of the Trinity River.

The advisory comes after health workers found high toxic levels in fish samples.

The advisory is for seven types of fish: blue catfish, flathead catfish, freshwater drum, gar, smallmouth buffalo, striped bas and white bass.

Officials are asking people to not eat the fish.

UPDATE Via: Texas DSHS

The usual suspects. Dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls or PCBs

The Texas Department of State Health Services today issued a fish consumption advisory for Lake Livingston and portions of the Trinity River after laboratory testing of fish samples found elevated levels of dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls or PCBs.

The Lake Livingston advisory is for seven types of fish – blue catfish, flathead catfish, freshwater drum, gar, smallmouth buffalo, striped bass and white bass. The advisory is in effect for the Trinity River Basin which includes Lake Livingston and the Trinity River from U.S. 287 downstream to U.S. 90.

Regular or long-term consumption of fish from these waters may increase the likelihood of long- term health risks. People can still fish in the area, though they should not consume or should limit their consumption of fish from this area and are advised to follow the specific age and species recommendations in this chart:

PORT MANSFIELD TEXAS ILLEGALLY TOWING BOAT TRAILERS

It’s come to our attention that a number of anglers have potentially been victimized by an alleged illegal towing operation by the Willacy County Navigation District in Port Mansfield Texas. It’s alleged they have broken multiple state laws in doing so. Anglers have come forward stating that there trailers were illegally removed from public parking areas around the harbor. State law exists regarding signage requirements and can be located Here and Here

At present there is a gentleman who is seeking out potential victims in this legal matter. He has submitted an open records request regarding the WCND ordinance Chapter X Sec. 1 as well as additional policies and procedures of the district.

If you or anyone you know had a boat trailer towed, removed or impounded by the Willacy County Navigation District please contact the gentleman Derek8324 in this thread. He is seeking other potential victims concerning this legal matter.

Tight lines and full limits. Updates as they evolve.

HPD ILLEGALLY DETAINS MAN FOR OPEN CARRY OF LONG GUN

Regardless of some peoples opinion on the matter, public open carry of a long gun is perfectally legal in Texas. As long as you don’t point your rifle at anyone. Because it’s legal, one is under no obligation to identify themselves while open carrying because they’re breaking no laws. See Brown vs. Texas

Kiltman handled this contact well. He didn’t get mouthy, remained calm and invoked his rights. In doing so he gathered evidence of illegal detention, battery and tampering with evidence when the female officer turned the camera. IMO, if Kiltman really wants to hold someone accountable he has the evidence to file a USC Title 42 Sec. 1983 “Deprivation of rights under color of law” lawsuit in Federal court.

Enough typing. Here is the video.

GRAPHIC VIDEO: PROOF GUNS SAVE LIVES

What would you do if you were minding your own business in the comfort of your own home and a machete-wielding maniac started kicking in your door?

If you don’t have a firearm you’d likely panic, pick up the phone, and hope that 9-1-1 can get a police officer to your house in the next 15 seconds.

If you are an armed homeowner, however, you’ve not only given yourself a fighting chance, but you have the distinct advantage of being on your own turf and capable of dispatching the threat with near instantaneous results.

This is exactly the scenario James Cvengros was presented with recently when his insane neighbor Twain Thomas started screaming and becoming violent in the hallway of the apartment building in which Cvengros lives. Cvengros turned on a camera and pointed it at his front door just in case. As you’ll see in the video below, Thomas can be heard causing quite a ruckus outside, prompting Cvengros to take a look. He quickly closed and locked his door and waited.

Sure enough, a few seconds later Twain Thomas’ foot can be seen coming through his front door, at which point Cvengros warns that he has a gun. The would-be attacker, with machete in hand, would not be deterred.

As he comes through the door Cvengros discharges three bullets into Thomas’ chest.

In the aftermath of the shooting Twain Thomas can be heard gurgling and writhing in pain. A fitting result for someone who intended to do harm to the two innocent people who were doing nothing more than spending an evening at home.

Had there been no firearm in this home things could have gone a totally different direction and it’s quite possible the Cvengros, his wife, as well as Thomas’ partner with whom he was arguing could all be dead.

In the right hands, guns save lives. They are the great equalizer.

No further evidence is necessary.

Update: Twain Thomas survived his wounds and has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery and aggravated burglary.
